Responsible for performing audits on Property/Casualty Commercial Lines adjustable policies in Glendale California and the surrounding area to establish appropriate classifications, exposures and basis of premium.  Responsible for developing earned premiums in accordance with company, industry and government rules and regulations.<br><br><br><br>PRIMARY DUTIES:<br><br>Conducts audit of selected Commercial Lines adjustable policies by reviewing the insured's business operations, including examining, verifying and recording pertinent classification-related data from financial/business records.  Determine and/or develop premium basis and classification.<br><br><br><br>Conducts physical audits to optimize timeliness and productivity.  Some travel will be required.<br><br><br><br>Discuss issues and problems with the insured to ensure understanding of the change in premium and to maintain good customer relations.<br><br><br><br>Ensure quality of the audit through proper risk classification and exposure basis identification.  Utilize laptop computer to record audit information and transmit completed audits in a timely manner.<br><br><br><br>Provide external customers (i.e., agents and insureds) and internal customers (i.e., underwriting, policy processing, claims and accounting) with information to assist in their understanding of audit-related matters, including audit vouchers, procedures and worksheets.<br><br><br><br>Remain informed of changes and current information relative to premium auditing through discussion and correspondence with experts and industry-related literature.<br><br><br><br>Alert the Special Investigative Unit (SIU) of potential fraud situations.<br><br><br><br>EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY:<br><br>All incumbents are required to pass the industry APA exams within 2 years of hire, and promotion to the next level requires that the APA designation has been achieved.<br><br><br><br>WORK EXPERIENCE:<br><br>Demonstrated ability to work independently.<br><br>Strong organizational skills.<br><br>Strong communications skills.<br><br>Solid analytical skills.<br><br>Experience in the use of personal computers and software applications (e.g., MS Excel, MS Word and LOTUS Notes.)<br><br>Strong knowledge of the Property Casualty businesses and products.<br><br>Underwriting and marketing exposure.<br><br>College degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience.<br><br>It is generally expected that this level auditor have 0-3 years of auditing experience. He or she will be responsible for the development of superior insurance products and services as well as high quality underwriting and pricing guidelines for commercial accounts in Canada.  He or she will be responsible for managing the performance and profitability of the commercial accounts segment in Canada.
