Ensure claim policies, procedures, and standards are implemented and maintained to ensure high quality, cost-effective case management. Recognize and apply how jurisdictional issues impact the claim (i.e.: negligence laws, financial responsibility/limits, immunity, etc.)  Manage deductibles and coverage limits.<br><br>- Contact appropriate parties to obtain relevant facts necessary to determine coverage, causation/damages, nature and extent of injuries and exposure with respect to the various vehicle coverage provided.<br><br>- Investigate facts to establish negligence, determine liability, other sources of recovery and negotiate resolutions as appropriate. Manage fire, theft and other claims that require specialized investigation and utilization of internal and external experts in accordance with local laws.<br><br>- Request the appropriate inspection type based on the details of the loss to effectively and efficiently resolve the claim (i.e.: conciergeclaim, appraisal, heavy equipment, property task assignment). The CCGC will coordinate and collaborate effectively with all areas within Claim Legal to deliver seamless legal services to the Claim Center clients.<br><br><br><br>PRIMARY DUTIES:<br><br>The CCGC will provide coordinated legal advice and support to Travelers Claim Center management and staff on a variety of legal issues, including but not limited to insurance coverage, claim handling practices, claim initiatives, compliance, regulatory inquiries, contracts and emerging trends.  The areas of legal work will include: preparing written legal coverage opinions; providing general legal advice; managing litigation brought by or against Travelers, providing counsel and coordination on regulatory inquiries, including market conduct examinations; providing direction and counsel on compliance issues; assisting in developing Claim Center policies and procedures; serving on and supporting Claim Center committees such as suit committee meetings; and performing research.  In addition, the CCGC will collaborate with Underwriting and other business units within Travelers on these issues where appropriate.<br><br><br><br>This CCGC position supports the Northern California Claim Center.  The position is based in Rancho Cordova, CA, near Sacramento.  The position also works with offices in Walnut Creek, CA and Diamond Bar, CA.<br><br><br><br>EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY:<br><br>JD degree or LLM<br><br><br><br>CERTIFICATES/DEGREES:<br><br>Admitted to the Bar<br><br><br><br>COMMUNICATION SKILLS:<br><br>Strong and persuasive written, oral and presentation skills<br><br><br><br>COMPUTER SKILLS:<br><br>Strong PC skills, including WORD and EXCEL<br><br><br><br>OTHER:<br><br>*Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience.
