Satisfy customer needs and ensure file quality.  This is a residential position covering the Columbia, Sumter, Camden, SC area.<br><br><br><br>PRIMARY DUTIES:<br><br>Handle 1st party Homeowner Property claims of moderate complexity as assigned.<br><br>Complete field inspection of losses including accurate scope of damages, photographs, written estimates and/or computer assisted estimates.<br><br>Investigate and evaluate all relevant facts to determine coverage, damages and liability of first-party property damage claims.<br><br>Access and inspect all areas of a dwelling or structure including tight spaces such as attics, staircases, entries and crawl spaces<br><br>Lift, carry, unfold and set up ladder weighing approximately 38 pounds; climb ladder;  transition to and from ladder to area requiring inspection; requires ability to walk on roof.<br><br>Establish timely and accurate claim and expense reserves.<br><br>Negotiate and convey claim settlements within authority limits.<br><br>Write denial letters, Reservation of Rights and other complex correspondence.<br><br>Control damages through proper usage of cost containment tools.<br><br>Meet all quality standards and expectations per Best Practices.<br><br>Maintain an effective diary system and document claim file activities in accordance with established procedures.<br><br>Manage file inventory to ensure timely resolution of cases.<br><br>Handle files in compliance with state regulations, where applicable.<br><br>Provide excellent customer service to meet the needs of the insured, agent and all other internal and external customers.<br><br>Identify and refer claims with MCU exposure to the supervisor.<br><br>Recognize when to refer claims to Special Investigations Unit and/or Subro Unit.<br><br>Perform administrative functions such as expense accounts, time off reporting, etc. as required<br><br>Perform any other duties as required.<br><br>Occasional Catastrophe Duty, including other offices and states may be required.<br><br><br><br>EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY:<br><br>College degree or equivalent in business discipline.<br><br><br><br>WORK EXPERIENCE:<br><br>Previous residential property claim handling experience is preferred.<br><br>Knowledge of construction, estimating and estimating system (Xactimate preferred)<br><br><br><br>CERTIFICATES/DEGREES:<br><br>Valid driver's license<br><br><br><br>COMMUNICATION SKILLS:<br><br>Must display solid verbal and written communications skills.<br><br><br><br>COMPUTER SKILLS:<br><br>Hardware and software skills and abilities including computers and other similar electronic devices.<br><br><br><br>OTHER:<br><br>Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently.<br><br>Solid analytical skills.<br><br>Excellent negotiation skills.<br><br><br><br>Incumbents who fill this position will be subject to periodic post-hire criminal background checks while employed in this position. Auto Appraiser positions promptly inspect automobiles, heavy equipment, boats, RVs and motorcycles to determine the nature and extent of damages.  Prepare damage estimates using company provided automated estimating systems.  Evaluate damages through proper use of cost-containment tools.  Recognize subrogation and salvage opportunities, as well as potential fraud and refer to the appropriate level.<br><br><br><br>Primary Duties and Responsibilities :<br><br>Handle auto physical damage claims on first party, and third party claims involving clear liability, up to given authority.<br><br>Assist and monitor DRP program within assigned territory.  Ensure all DRP designated shops understand and abide by Company DRP agreements.  Perform periodic re-inspections to assure repair shop compliance with company standards.<br><br>Re-inspect vehicles to determine quality of repair performed and repair method utilized within assigned territory.  Comply with all insurance department regulations and applicable laws within assigned jurisdiction.<br><br>Evaluate and determine ACVs on all TTL loss vehicles.  Contact first party vehicle owners in 24 hours to negotiate, settle and move TTL loss vehicles to predetermined storage free areas.<br><br>Where liability has been predetermined, negotiate and settle property damage claims to eliminate storage fees.  Assist in special projects.<br><br>Complete auto appraisals and auto re-inspections to assure accurate payments are made to customers and claimants.<br><br>Assist in identifying quality repair shops for the DRP program.
