SUMMARY:

The Project Manager is the single point of accountability for the management and implementation of the project. This position is responsible for working with Business Partners or other parties to identify and implement small to medium projects, as defined by the Travelers Enterprise Programs project definition, that support achievement of simple to complex unit or corporate goals. Controls planning and execution of the project's activities and resources to ensure that established cost, time, and quality goals are met. The project manager works with moderate guidance and is responsible for applying project management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project deliverables, processes, and systems in order to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations. The project manager operates within defined parameters using a proven project management methodology with flexibility to merge different methodologies in accomplishing collective goals.



PRIMARY DUTIES:

Responsible for assembling project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying and managing appropriate resources needed, and developing and managing schedule to ensure timely and meeting deadlines of project(s)

Responsible for managing project budget and achieving cost targets

Responsible for quality management and control

Responsible for the development and execution of the project's communication plan

Manages project risks and scope and identifies and resolves issues which may impact the project results

Prepares and reports timely project status to appropriate stakeholders

Builds and leverages effective alliances across technical and business community



OTHER:

Technical Knowledge

Has a thorough understanding of the business that the assigned projects are supporting. Uses this understanding of the business and systems environment to develop appropriate and timely solutions to daily issues. Has conceptual knowledge of varying technologies and/or application development and the ability to make decisions based on that knowledge



Business Knowledge & Partnership

Is able to accurately assess and understand customer needs and work with a sense of urgency to satisfy those needs within negotiated timeframes. Able to interface effectively with customers in sensitive customer/support situations. Effectively communicates (verbal, written and presentation ability) with peers and all levels of management. Ensures that reports are precise, timely and accurate



Problem Solving & Decision Making

Demonstrates sound analytic and diagnostic skills dealing with issues that are loosely defined and/or where information is available but must be further manipulated. Once decisions are made, is able to follow and direct action to implement intended results. Is developing negotiation skills

Planning and Project Management

Works with the project sponsor in prioritizing and managing scope. Executes the project tasks using a defined set of tools and the Delivery Methodology. Able to follow a defined process for scope changes, risk management, issue management and other proposed changes in priorities from the business partner or other parties.



Financial Awareness (Cost Management)

Manages project budget including the tracking of actuals to budget and reporting to stakeholders.
