SUMMARY:
Telephonic case management with an emphasis on maximizing quality and controlling costs through aggressive case resolution.
Focus on claims with anticipated or actual duration of five months or more.
Coordinate medical and indemnity position of the claim with a Medical Case Manger.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Aggressively managing inventory to resolution.
Establishing the file on the system. Initiating letters, filling out of state reporting forms and all other necessary state regulated documents.
Building a strong partnership with Medical Management in order to integrate the delivery of medical services into the overall claim strategy. If severity of medical treatment or length of disability increases, discuss with Unit Manager for possible reassignment to the Critical Claim Unit.
Establish appropriate reserves to reflect claim exposure and document rationale in notes.
Aggressively pursue all claim resolution opportunities, (i.e.) return to work, structured settlement, and discontinuance of benefits through litigation.
Aggressively manage inventory to ensure timely file closing or timely reassignment if necessary.
EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY:
College degree preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Preferably a minimum of 2-3 years prior Workers Compensation claim management experience.
CERTIFICATES/DEGREES:
Successful completion of the Case Manager proficiency/knowledge/skill assessment also preferred.
OTHER:
Expert understanding of Workers Compensation laws and regulations, including benefits administration and state filings. Basic claim and jurisdictional knowledge.
