SUMMARY:
Manage all accepted lost time claims, except specified serious injuries or complex claims that cannot be resolved within approximately 7 months.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform telephonic case management of Workers Compensation claims that are assigned.
Contact injured worker, employer and medical providers in a timely manner to gather relevant info to assist in the investigation and evaluation of the claim. Manage to conclusion all lost time claims with 6 months duration or less. .
Manage files with an emphasis on file quality (including timely contact and proper documentation), maximizing internal resources, and achieving a positive end result by returning injured party to work.
Aggressively pursue claim resolution opportunities.
Build strong partnership with our internal nurse resources (Medical Case Manager) in order to integrate the delivery of medical services to the injured worker.
Identify claim issues as they arise, and take appropriate steps to resolve them or refer them to the Unit Manager for reassignment.
Establish appropriate reserves to reflect claim exposure.

EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY:
College degree is preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Workers Compensation claim handling experience including investigations skills, resolution skills, evaluation, negotiation and reserving skills

OTHER:
Complete understanding of all policy, coverage and endorsement implications, and AOE/COE issues
Technical and jurisdictional and case law knowledge.

Travelers is looking for a HPR/Property Specialist that has an extensive background with Property Protection across a broad spectrum of industries and insurance. We are looking for an individual that has HPR/Large Property Protection training, 8-10 years of experience and has the ability to evaluate Automatic Protection, as well as hazards and controls. The candidate should be able to; perform hydrant and fire pump flow tests, sketch sprinkler systems, do hydraulic calculations and automatic sprinkler plan reviews.


SUMMARY:
Property/HPR Field Specialist reports to Director, Property Specialist Technical Unit. Delivers Property specialty services to large assigned accounts. Provides Property technical training to Risk Control Consultants. Handles accounts on a national or multi-regional basis. Provides technical training to Risk Control generalists. Travel with overnight stays is anticipated and could be up to 30% of workload requirements.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Survey applicant and insured facilities for fire, smoke, explosion, and other property loss potential. Locations surveyed are generally high value manufacturing and warehousing properties with complex exposures to loss, and require accurate exposure analysis and PML & likelihood of loss estimations.

Witness tests and assess reliability & adequacy of fire protection equipment.

Review plans for new construction, including hydraulically designed sprinkler systems, fire alarm and detection systems, fire pumps, chemical & gaseous agent fire protection installations, and combustion controls.

Serve as a technical resource to Risk Control generalists and Account Executives (Underwriting).

Consult with clients on ways to control hazards in order to reduce or prevent losses. Influence clients to implement recommendations.

Provide property loss control training assistance to Risk Control staff in the form of workshop participation, co-surveys, and information transfer.

Includes having the ability to navigate through customer sites in a safe manner, which may include manufacturing areas, warehouses, storage yards, construction sites, etc. which may present surfaces that are uneven, wet, icy, and somewhat unstable or covered with debris; Have the ability to navigate within a customer facility in low light or relatively dark conditions; Be capable of making regular and prompt travel over extended distances by air or vehicle while demonstrating effective planning, expense and cost control skills; and the ability to work under exposure to extreme outdoor/indoor conditions (heat, snow, cold, rain etc.)

SUMMARY:
Office based telephonic medical case management with emphasis on early intervention, return to work planning, coordination of quality medical care on claims involving disability and medical treatment as well as in-house medical reviews as applicable to claim handling laws and regulations. Responsible for helping to ensure injured parties receive appropriate treatment directly related to the compensable injury or assist claim handlers in managing medical treatment to an appropriate resolution.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contact medical provider and injured parties on claims involving medical treatment and /or disability to coordinate appropriate medical care. Develop medical management strategy and give the provider information necessary to facilitate a return to work plan on claims requiring disability management. Responsible for ongoing evaluation of treatment and return to work plan, within established protocols.
Work with medical providers and suggest cost effective treatment alternatives, when appropriate. Help ensure that all injured parties are on an aggressive treatment plan. Authorize medical treatment and associated diagnostic testing on assigned claims as allowed by state or policy jurisdictions. For nurses handling Workers Compensation Claims, perform Utilization Review according to established guidelines. Utilize physician advisor program.
Proactively manage the medical expenses by partnering with specialty resources to achieve appropriate claim outcomes (SIU, Legal, Risk Control, Disability Management, IME and Peer Review vendors, Major Case, etc.)
Obtain medical records from providers telephonically during initial contact, and follow up with written correspondence if necessary. Discuss medical information and disability status with claim handler and integrate into overall strategy to ensure appropriateness of indemnity payments. Provide technical assistance and act as a resource for claim handling staff.
Contact employer to initiate modified duty or full return to work. Obtain job description and discuss job modifications required to ensure a prompt return to work. Medical Case Manager will work with employer, injured party, provider and claim handler to expedite return to work.
Identify cases requiring task assignments to field case managers, discuss with supervisor for assignment to Medical or Vocational Case Manager, or vendor.
Document all contacts and outcomes related to case activity in system. Submit billing reports on all activities per established guidelines.
Provide feedback to Preferred Provider Network regarding provider nominations and experience with providers.
Comply with established Best Practices
Perform other duties as required.

EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY:
Registered Nurse or other qualified health professionals.

CDMS, CRC, CCM, CRRN desirable

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Disability case management experience preferred.

CERTIFICATES/DEGREES:
Appropriate license per state regulation

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Very strong oral and written communication skills.
