Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?
As VP, Enterprise Data Enablement, you will drive Travelers’ strategy to ensure enterprise data is AI-ready—trusted, governed, and optimized for advanced analytics and machine learning. Reporting to the Chief Data & Analytics Officer, you will lead a high-impact team dedicated to data management, integrations, platform evolution, and external data enablement. Success in this role requires strategic vision, technical leadership, and the ability to build collaborative partnerships across business units. You will help shape a culture where data quality and governance are foundational to innovation.
What Will You Do?
- Develop and execute enterprise-wide strategies to ensure Travelers’ data is AI-ready, including metadata enrichment, semantic labeling, catalog management, bias detection, drift monitoring, and data versioning.
- Implement and maintain rigorous data quality standards, leveraging modern frameworks and tools to ensure regulatory compliance and reproducibility for AI models.
- Design and operationalize automated Data Governance as a Service (DGaaS) frameworks, embedding metadata capture, lineage tracking, and policy enforcement directly into data pipelines.
- Lead the evolution of Travelers’ data platform strategy, integrating cloud-based architectures, data lakes, warehouses, vector databases, and MLOps frameworks to support advanced analytics.
- Own the enterprise data integration strategy, designing scalable pipelines with enforced data contracts and schema governance, ensuring consistency and quality across applications and models.
- Develop and manage the sourcing, contracting, and operationalization of external data assets, ensuring their fitness for AI and analytics while maximizing business value.
- Serve as a strategic partner to BU leaders and the VP of Enterprise Data Products, co-developing integrated roadmaps for data enablement across multiple domains.
- Build, mentor, and manage a diverse team of data engineers and governance specialists, fostering a culture of data literacy, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
- Master’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 15 years in enterprise data management, architecture, or governance, including at least 7 years in senior leadership roles.
- Minimum of 7 years designing and delivering AI/ML-ready data platforms and governance frameworks in large, regulated environments; insurance or financial services industry experience is highly advantageous.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale change management initiatives, drive cultural transformation, and build cross-functional partnerships.
- Certifications such as AIGP, CIPP, and CDMP are highly valued.
- Advanced proficiency in modern software languages, data tools, and cloud platforms.
- Experience with data governance and catalog platforms, data observability tools, and vector databases.
- Deep understanding of AI/ML data requirements, including semantic labeling, bias detection, drift monitoring, and unstructured data management.
- Exceptional executive communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for senior leadership and business stakeholders.
- Strong collaborative leadership style, adept at building relationships and aligning priorities across business units.
- Demonstrated ability to empower teams, foster innovation, and drive organizational change.
What is a Must Have?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in enterprise data management, platform architecture, or data governance.
- Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing multi-disciplinary data teams and managing large-scale, cross-functional projects.
