WHO WE ARE

Bharath Muniraj doesn’t just solve problems; he invents new ways to explore them. During his junior and senior years at the University of Minnesota, Bharath combined his computer science education with a passion for music, to build a guitar that plays using laser tracking technology. It was the kind of project that didn’t have a roadmap, and that’s exactly what made it worth doing.

That same curiosity brought him to Travelers. At a virtual career fair, Bharath connected with a recruiter and talked about his laser guitar, his side projects and his approach to building things that don’t yet exist. It wasn’t a traditional pitch, but it worked. Today, as a Senior Associate Software Engineer in Corporate Technology, Bharath channels that experimental mindset into enterprise learning technology, designing tools that help Travelers employees learn, grow and track their progress across the company.

He spends much of his time writing and editing code to support company learning initiatives, designing applications like a platform for employees to track their learning time and activities. He also works closely with vendors that deliver products and services essential to Travelers’ learning capabilities.

Currently, he’s working on an application that allows learning designers to publish and host learning content for employees to consume, such as courses and quizzes, in one place. It also facilitates the management of this content by tracking its publication.

“I like to think outside the box and bring ideas that people don’t necessarily think about,” Bharath explains, “especially because it’s hard to account for every unknown.”

Bharath appreciates that Travelers encourages new ideas and is open to different perspectives. “Even though I’m early in my career, I feel confident in voicing my ideas – they are always heard.”

Bharath asserts the importance of using your voice, even when ideas feel unfinished. “You can have bad ideas, but you should still share them because some bad ideas can help navigate you to good ideas.”

In his free time, Bharath continues to expand upon his many talents – running, lifting, playing golf, playing video games and even crocheting. He also enjoys landscape photography and finds passion and inspiration in others’ art.

“I feel like I won’t know what I hate and what I’ll like unless I try things,” he reflects, embodying his philosophy of openness and exploration.
