Actuarial Leadership Development Program (ALDP)
During this challenging five-year rotational program, we’ll give you cutting-edge technologies, a creative workspace and hands-on actuarial training to ready you for success. In return, you will be key in determining strategies, risks and rewards, ultimately changing the ways we think about and conduct business. Along the way, you’ll be supported and provided with opportunities to customize the program toward your individual development.
The ALDP Candidate Has:
- An undergraduate or graduate degree in preferred majors: Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or related major.
- A preferred GPA 3.0 or above. Has preferably completed at least one CAS examination and attaining credentials is required.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States now and in the future.
Business Insights & Analytics Leadership Development Program (BI&ALDP)
As a participant in the Business Insights & Analytics Leadership Development Program, you will deepen your understanding of how Travelers leverages data products to provide analytic enablement to our business. Over the course of this three-year journey of career self-discovery, you will thrive in a collaborative culture that positions you for success as you grow from individual contributor to leader of impactful results. You will gain hands-on experience working with data, location intelligence, analytics and business insights, while harnessing the power of our emerging capabilities and latest technologies.
The Business Insights & Analytics Candidate Has:
- An undergraduate or graduate degree in Business Analytics, Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics/Data Science, Economics/Econometrics, MIS, Mathematics/Statistics or other data related major.
- A strong research mindset to understand our business in order to provide the highest level of analytic enablement.
- The aptitude to learn and apply evolving data and analytics best practices in data analysis, dashboarding, database querying and the architecture of on-premises and cloud-based platforms.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States now and in the future.
The Geospatial Candidate Has:
- An undergraduate or graduate degree with significant coursework in Geography or Geographic Information Sciences (GIS).
- Enthusiasm and motivation to take on new technologies and innovative projects, meticulous attention to detail and strong presentation skills.
- A previous GIS or geospatial internship experience working with location intelligence data, significant experience with the Esri ArcGIS suite and a working knowledge of both Python and SQL preferred.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States now and in the future.
Data Science Leadership Development Program (DSLDP)
During the Data Science Leadership Development Program (DSLDP), we’ll give you cutting-edge technologies, a creative workspace, and hands-on training to ready you for success. In return, you will be key in determining strategies, risks, and rewards, ultimately changing the ways we think about and conduct business. Along the way, you’ll be supported with opportunities to customize the program toward your individual development.
The DSLDP Candidate Has:
- A preferred Masters or PhD degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics or STEM-related field.
- Applied statistical knowledge and experience solving “real-world” problems.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Experience with a programming language (Python, R, SAS, etc.).
Engineering Development Program (EDP)
Innovative thinking, creative problem-solving, and a determination to challenge the status-quo. These are some of the defining qualities for participants of our Engineering Development Program (EDP). EDP is a one-year, non-rotational program containing four designated Engineering tracks: Software, Data Engineering, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure & Cloud. Each track is designed to grow and develop your technical and self-leadership skills and within your assigned track, your experience will consist of a combination of hands-on opportunities, an immersive learning accelerator, and a mentoring program to prepare you for a dynamic career. You will have the opportunity to explore multiple languages while learning from different technologists within Travelers. As an Engineering DP participant, you exemplify model behavior and will be expected to positively challenge processes and identify new and innovative ways to complete objectives more effectively and efficiently. You will be expected to take initiative, embrace change, actively listen to, and support diverse points of view and celebrate the success of others.
The EDP Candidate Has:
- An undergraduate degree with a technology major or minor; or the successful completion of a state-licensed technical bootcamp specializing in Software, Data, Cyber or Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering.
- Exposure to Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) in one major language. Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Suggested majors include (but are not limited to): Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, as well as other technology related majors.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States now and in the future.
Finance & Accounting Leadership Development Program (FALDP)
The Finance & Accounting Leadership Development Program (FALDP) is a three-year rotational program that prepares emerging professionals for impactful careers in finance and accounting. Participants rotate through diverse assignments, receive specialized training, and are supported by dedicated mentors throughout the program. Qualifying work experience toward CPA certification is also included. Upon completion, graduates place into finance or accounting roles and join an accomplished network of FALDP alumni across the organization.
The FALDP Candidate Has:
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance and/or Accounting (preferred GPA of 3.4 or above).
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel.
- Demonstrated leadership potential through internships, extracurricular activities or work experience.
- Self-motivation with a strong work ethic and a high level of critical and analytical thinking. Exhibits sound judgement and decision-making skills, along with emotional intelligence to build strong relationships.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States now and in the future.
Human Resources Leadership Development Program (HRLDP)
At Travelers, our Human Resources (HR) function is dedicated to delivering a market-leading employee experience that drives superior business performance. Our Human Resources Leadership Development Program (HRLDP) is a three-year rotational program designed to give you broad exposure across core functional areas, accelerating your growth as an HR professional. Through this experience, you’ll develop the business acumen and leadership skills needed to excel in an impactful HR role, all while building lasting connections with program alumni and leaders across the company.
The HRLDP Candidate Has:
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor Relations, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related field.
- A preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Demonstrated leadership potential through internships, extracurricular activities or work experience.
- Self-motivation with a strong work ethic and a high level of critical and analytical thinking. Exhibits sound judgement and decision-making skills, along with emotional intelligence to build strong relationships.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States now and in the future.
Investment Analyst Development Program (IADP)
The Investment Analyst Development Program has two tracks – Credit and Quantitative. In the Credit track, participants will serve as Credit Research Associate Analysts, and in the Quantitative track, participants will serve as Quantitative Research Associate Analysts. Both tracks consist of managing a $90 billion investment portfolio as an institutional “buy-side” fixed income investor, working in an apprenticeship culture with daily collaboration alongside the Chief Investment Officer, portfolio managers, analysts, and other associates and utilizing college course work, formal training, and on-the-job learning to make an immediate impact on the portfolio.
The IADP Candidate Has:
- A bachelor’s degree with preferred GPA of 3.5 or above (suggested major of Economics, Finance/Accounting, Liberal Arts or Political Science for Credit track and Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Science for Quantitative track).
- Leadership skills and the ability to make an impact.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment.
- Internship or practical work experience.
- Willingness to relocate to St. Paul, MN.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States now and in the future.
Operations Leadership Development Program (OLDP)
The Operations Leadership Development Program (OLDP) is a challenging three-year rotational program designed to accelerate the development of future leaders. You’ll have opportunities to relocate across the country while leading projects, developing teams and gaining management experience. We invest in participants by providing professional development, senior leadership mentoring, enterprise networking as well as technical and on-the-job training. Ultimately, you’ll land yourself an impactful Operations role, joining a diverse group of alumni and leaders across the organization.
The OLDP Candidate Has:
- A bachelor’s degree (preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above).
- A major in Business Management, Economics, Finance, Insurance, Liberal Arts & Sciences, Risk Management, Supply Chain and Operations or similar.
- Willingness to relocate and travel. Participants are required to complete one rotation of a minimum of 12 months in a field office location. This rotation may require relocation.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States now and in the future.
Product Management Development Program (PMDP)
Through this rotational program, you’ll dive into the real work of insurance Product Management (PM) — analyzing data to drive profits, shaping competitive strategies, influencing pricing, and developing new products — all while rotating across our Personal, Small Commercial, or Business Insurance teams. You’ll receive best-in-class training in insurance, actuarial science, underwriting and technology, setting yourself up to land an impactful PM role at one of the industry’s most respected companies..
The PMDP Candidate Has:
- A bachelor’s degree (preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above).
- A major in Actuarial Science, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Information Systems, Mathematics, Risk Management or other related business major.
- A passion for learning and self-development, with some past experience in a business environment.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States now and in the future.
Underwriting Professional Development Program (UPDP)
The Underwriting Professional Development Program has two tracks – Bond & Specialty Insurance (BSI) and Business Insurance (BI).
In the Bond & Specialty track, you’ll prepare for an impactful career underwriting and marketing our Surety and Management Liability insurance products in one of our field offices. Through on-the-job training, classroom learning and independent experience, you will gain the knowledge and skills you need to be successful here. You’ll learn how to analyze information, evaluate risk and build lasting relationships with our portfolios. In the end, you’ll have a challenging and stimulating career where your well-informed decisions can impact our business and our customers.
In the Business Insurance track, you’ll learn coverage, underwriting and sales through a blend of classroom training, experiential learning and hands-on work. You’ll spend time in your field office working on accounts, visiting agencies, and networking, as well as in classes at our Hartford campus and Denver field office developing your technical and underwriting skills. At the completion of your initial training, you will continue on to more advanced business-unit-specific training and attend a week-long sales school. Once you have successfully completed all of the training, you will manage your own book of business and continue on the path of an impactful underwriting career
The BSI UPDP Candidate Has:
- A bachelor’s degree or one year of applicable work experience.
- A major in Business Administration, Communications, Economics, Finance, Insurance, Marketing or similar OR relevant work experience in property and casualty.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States now and in the future.
The BI UPDP Candidate Has:
- A bachelor’s degree or one year of applicable work experience.
- A motivation to take initiative on tasks while also demonstrating the ability to learn the industry, product line and internal programs and platforms, verbal and written communication skills, listening skills and the ability to leverage analytical skills.
